Toward a bluegreen city
‘Meet vegetables and fish’
“AQUON promises a new future for more innovative agriculture and fisheries industries.”
The land and marine aquaponics system developed by the Ph.D.-level research team in Marine Ecology at Seoul National University is based on technologies that combine the optimal growth environments for plants and fish, ranging from the establishment of big data-driven cultivation environments to cross-cultivation techniques under both freshwater and seawater conditions. Through this, Aquon has become the only research-based aquaponics smart farm company in Korea, equipped with exclusive mass production technologies for high-growth, nutrient-rich agricultural and aquacultural products and systems.
Based on expertise in environmental ecology and energy, Aquon holds numerous patents and has earned recognition for its value in the marine and fisheries sectors, including in environmental analysis, self-sustaining ecosystems, and aquaponics.
The aquaponics smart farm technology has four key advantages. First, fish grow healthily in the water purified by plants, eliminating the need for antibiotics. Second, microorganisms convert fish waste into nutrients, enabling plants to grow well without the need for chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Third, the cultivation water is recirculated, meaning no water is wasted. Therefore, there are no concerns about environmental pollution from wastewater. Fourth, because it is grown indoors, it is not affected by external environmental conditions, effectively blocking pollutants from outside.
Aquon aims to build an urban ecosystem where there are no distinctions, boundaries, or disparities between agriculture and aquaculture, rural and urban areas, and land and sea. The goal is to create a healthy Earth and future where people, life, land, and water coexist and thrive together.
What started as fish ecology research in a small laboratory at Seoul National University has now been reborn as food tech that saves both the Earth and humanity. Aquon is a company that thinks of both people and the planet, creating new value and leading the way in climate tech toward a Blue-Green City.
